Elementary Grade Educator (K/1, 2/3, 4/5)

 

  • San Carlos Charter (SCC), a progressive K-8 charter school located in San Carlos, is seeking a 1.0 FTE K-5th Grade Multi-age Classroom Educators for the 2025 2026 School Year. 

    The San Carlos Charter (SCC), in San Carlos, CA, is a progressive, public K-8 independent charter school that educates learners to be independent thinkers as well as socially conscientious and responsible citizens. SCC is the longest running charter school in California! We are currently seeking enthusiastic K-5th grade educators who are highly collaborative, flexible, and value a warm and safe learning environment. 

    SCC instruction is based on the constructivist learning theory and values social emotional learning. Grade level teams support one another in designing and implementing a curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

  • A successful candidate will work in a team setting with the other educators to provide an inquiry-based, hands-on approach to educating learners in a multi-age setting. SCC has multi-age grade bands of K/1, 2/3, and 4/5 in our elementary program.

  • Type: Full-time 

    Salary Range: $62,400 - $115,440

    Classification: Certified

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Reports to: Executive Director

    • Work with the other team members to plan, implement, and document curriculum in connection to California State Standards (Common Core and NGSS) and SCC curriculum cycles.

    • Create a nurturing, inclusive and responsive classroom environment.

    • Engage in constructivist teaching strategies.

    • Design and implement project/problem- based learning.

    • Meet the developmental and curricular needs of all learners within a multiage classroom.

    • Assess learners regularly, track and report on their progress.

    • Maintain records in an appropriate and timely manner.

    • Manage and work closely with parent volunteers to implement curriculum.

    • Collaborate with the Special Education department on serving all learners which includes attending conferences, LST, 504, and IEP meetings.

    • Participate in school events such as New-Parent Enrollment Orientation, Back to School Night, Learner Exhibition, and Parent Ed Nights.

    • Help coordinate and participate in a milestone (overnight) and other field trips.

    • Bachelor's degree

    • Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential 

    • English Language Learner Authorization

    • While experience is a plus, we will also consider new educators who are a philosophical match

    • Must pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check

    • Must provide valid TB Assessment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, and walk and involves walking on even and uneven surfaces and negotiating a 6” curb. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, crouch and/or crawl. The employee occasionally may lift or push up to 25 lbs. 

    Must sit on an occasional or frequent basis. This is done at the desk with forward bending from the waist, leaning on the forearms, and looking down which requires neck flexion. It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc., either occasionally or frequently, depending on the day. 

    The use of office equipment including computers (mostly Macs), telephones, copiers, fax machines, etc. will be required. When working with equipment it may also be necessary to forward bend, squat, and/or kneel. 

    Hearing and vision must be corrected to normal range. Involves manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
